Eugeni Quitllet<\/strong> collabore depuis quelques ann\u00e9es avec Philippe Starck, mais c’est au Milan Design Week 2009<\/a> que le public a d\u00e9couvert son nom associ\u00e9 \u00e0 celui du c\u00e9l\u00e8bre designer. Nous avons eu le plaisir de l’interviewer<\/strong>…<\/p>\n

Eugeni Quitllet <\/strong>est n\u00e9 en 1971, designer catalan, il commence \u00e0 \u00e9tudier le design en 1991 \u00e0 la Ibiza Art School, il obtient son dipl\u00f4me de designer produit et designer d’int\u00e9rieur \u00e0 la Art Shool Barcelona en 1996. Apr\u00e8s quelques travaux dans l’architecture, il rencontre Philippe Starck en 2001, de la une grande collaboration commence…<\/p>\n

INTERVIEW :<\/h2>\n

Deco-Design<\/a> : Bonjour Eugeni<\/strong>, en peu de temps, le grand public a d\u00e9couvert ton nom gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des cr\u00e9ations en association avec Philippe Starck<\/a>. Raconte nous l’histoire de cette collaboration.<\/p>\n

Eugeni Quitllet<\/strong> : C’est vrai, mon nom apparait sur les derni\u00e8res cr\u00e9ations que l’on a fait ensemble, on dirait que notre collaboration est r\u00e9cente mais je te garantis que c’est un long et dur travail avant d’arriver \u00e0 ce niveau. Aujourd’hui cela fait 3 ans qu’on co-signe ensemble! J’ai connu Starck \u00e0 Formentera en 2001, et d\u00e9marr\u00e9 le travail imm\u00e9diatement, aujourd’hui on continue cette belle odyss\u00e9e…

Deco-Design<\/a> : Ce nom, Starck, associ\u00e9 au tien, est-ce facile ??? Les m\u00e9dias n’ont-ils pas tendance \u00e0 ne retenir que Starck et pas Quitllet<\/strong> ???<\/p>\n

Eugeni Quitllet<\/strong> : Pour \u00eatre tout a fait honn\u00eate, je n’ai jamais pens\u00e9 qu’un jour je travaillerai avec Starck mais \u00e7a s’est fait. Pour moi on est tr\u00e8s proches et familiers et ce n’est pas choquant du tout, mais je pense que les m\u00e9dias ne sont pas habitu\u00e9s \u00e0 \u00e9crire Starck associ\u00e9 au nom de Quitllet<\/strong>…et ils sont un peu fain\u00e9ants, c’est plus court d’\u00e9crire Starck plut\u00f4t que Quitllet<\/strong> qui est un peu plus long.<\/em><\/p>\n

Deco-Design<\/a> : Avant ta rencontre avec Starck, quels ont \u00e9t\u00e9 tes principaux projets de design ?<\/p>\n

Eugeni Quitllet<\/strong> : A mes d\u00e9buts je travaillais dans l’architecture dans un petit Studio \u00e0 Barcelone, et j’avais d\u00e9j\u00e0 en t\u00eate plusieurs des projets que je r\u00e9alise aujourd’hui. <\/em><\/p>\n

Deco-Design<\/a> : Quels sont tes projets en cours de r\u00e9alisation ? Seul ?<\/p>\n

Eugeni Quitllet<\/strong> : Le futur c’est maintenant, en face de l’ordinateur \u00e0 te parler…comme tu le sais, je cours pour arriver au prochain Milan Design Week 2010… On verra… Je travaille sur d’autres produits qui ne sont pas expos\u00e9s au Salon de Milan, les meubles c’est juste une partie de tout ce que je peux designer. <\/em><\/p>\n

Deco-Design<\/a> : Quelles sont tes r\u00e9f\u00e9rences en design ? La question est quasiment in\u00e9vitable quand on pense au projet Masters pour Kartell<\/a> que tu as sign\u00e9 avec Philippe !!!<\/p>\n

Eugeni Quitllet<\/strong> : Oui, ces ma\u00eetres du design sont une r\u00e9f\u00e9rence pour tout le monde, c’est \u00e7a qui rends la chaise \u00ab Masters <\/strong>\u00bb<\/strong> int\u00e9ressante… Je n’ai pas de r\u00e9f\u00e9rence particuli\u00e8re, je regarde autour de moi et vois ce qui se passe et je joue avec, j’aime le fait qu’une vision artistique peut devenir un produit r\u00e9el pour l’industrie et vice-versa. <\/em><\/p>\n

Comme L’ingenieur Leopold Mila qui a fait le design de la Moto Montesa Impala, qui est aujourd’hui une oeuvre d’art et le m\u00e9lange de Carlo Mollino entre des meubles d’art et l’automobile. <\/em><\/p>\n

Deco-Design<\/a> : Tu es catalan, tu travailles avec un fran\u00e7ais. Le m\u00e9lange de culture sert-il votre collaboration ???<\/p>\n

Eugeni Quitllet<\/strong> : Bien s\u00fbr, les catalans ont toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 tr\u00e8s proches de Starck, la premi\u00e8re \u00e9dition de son travail \u00e9tait “Disfom” avec Carlos Riera et dans son travail on retrouve beaucoup de r\u00e9f\u00e9rences \u00e0 Dali et Gaudi, tout ces ma\u00eetres sont catalans et in\u00e9vitablement surr\u00e9alistes !<\/em><\/p>\n

Je pense que les catalans sont tr\u00e8s fran\u00e7ais…<\/em><\/p>\n

Deco-Design<\/a> : Quels sont tes passions, tes loisirs, en dehors du design ? Un designer a-t-il une vie en dehors du design…<\/p>\n

Eugeni Quitllet<\/strong> : Pour moi le Design n’est pas une pi\u00e8ce \u00e0 part ou un travail, pour moi c’est la continuit\u00e9 des jeux enfantins avec un haut niveau de responsabilit\u00e9 mais toujours avec une imagination d’enfant. Ouvert \u00e0 toute chose, la meilleure place pour jouer pour moi, c’est la mer, et c’est la o\u00f9 je vais en ce moment.<\/em><\/p>\n
