Arborant un design entre Jaime Hayon<\/a> et Arne Jacobsen, le fauteuil REVIVE <\/strong>est sp\u00e9cialement con\u00e7u pour but de gu\u00e9rir les troubles affectifs saisonniers – dont souffrent les femmes enceintes – en utilisant la luminoth\u00e9rapie ; le traitement est consid\u00e9r\u00e9 comme un moyen efficace pour att\u00e9nuer le “grossesse blues”.<\/p>\n

Meng-Jung CHUANG<\/strong> nous explique le projet REVIVE<\/strong> :<\/p>\n

” This is my postgraduate project. My main goal is to design a useful product for local people to use. When I arrived here, I noticed how the weather and natural light in Scotland different from my country Taiwan. Following my research, I discovered up to half a million people are thought to experience SAD in the UK. Women are twice as likely as men to experience SAD. In addition, as many as one out of five women has symptoms of depression during pregnancy. There is no product in the market which can cure pregnant women with depression. I found that Light therapy is an effective way to cure their depression. REVIVE<\/strong> is a chair which offers sunshine like light. It has two projected spaces. Light is emitted through the inside surfaces of the chair, ensuring light is spread widely around the user. It also ensures light cure is as effective as possible. The chair has blue light. The blue light is like the sky and the cushion is green, resembling grass. When the user sits on Revive, it is a similar feeling to doing something relaxing such as sunbathing. The chair is touch sensitive, the blue light come on for recommended daily dose of 30 minutes ,and then turn back to white light after this time. When the white light is on, the chair will become a normal chair, the user can read a book or magazine. If it will go into production, white light will emite 300lux and blue light emites 6000lux, so is much more effective at providing the body with light in a short period of time, with no negative effects. In term of the appearance, the left cover is longer than the right cover so it is easier for users to get in or out. I took inspiration from the position of babies cocooned in the womb. It is a organic shape so it can make the user feel secure. According to Seasonal affective disorder association, existing light therapy products which are effective treatment in up to 85% of diagnosed cases. Traditionally, some suffers here use the light boxes to cure their depression. The users have to sit on the chair and then put the light boxes at the front of their face. But if the suffers use my chair, they can just sit on the chair to cure their depression. When a women is pregnant, she could use it. The lights are detachable and the chair can places in different location, like living room, bedroom, office or clinics. In order to keep the cost of the chair low, I think it could be used in doctors\u2019 surgeries or other clinics where it could be rented out by the hour. \/\/Gained media coverage of my work in The Scotsman newspaper (20 August 2010) and on Scottish Television programme, The Hour (01 Sep 2010).\/\/ “<\/em><\/p>\n
